I KNOW MY CHICKEN. YOU GOT TO KNOW YOUR CHICKEN.

I met Maria Allen at Brighton Fashion Week when I visited her stand, and I was very excited by what I saw. When I first started chatting with her, I thought she must be the designer’s assistant because she was so young. Not at all – the work is all hers. The pieces are affordable, wearable, and quirky, like the necklace that says ‘Oui’ on one side and ‘Non’ on the other. Sweet!

Here’s a pic of one of the necklaces I picked up; click the thumbnails below to see what’s on my wishlist! And for more info on this designer’s work, visit mariaallen.bigcartel.com

Mom’s New Favorite Tory Burch Tote

I recently surprised my mom with the navy tie dye Tory Burch Ella Tote.  She’s been seriously looking for a Tory Burch bag for months, and after scouring many, many websites,  she finally found one (pictured on right).  I was actually excited to surprise her with the (latest) bag of her dreams, and she was indeed thrilled when her package arrived.  She had no idea it was coming!  Fast forward six days.  I’m online checking out bags on various websites and came across the Tory Burch Ella Tote in navy seaport (pictured on left).  It had my mom’s name all over it!  I knew she would love the color combination.  In fact, when I showed her the second Ella tote, she flipped!  She’s going to return the navy tie dyed tote for her new favorite Tory Burch tote.  Price: $195 at Shopbop.com

Got Some Good Beauty News!

You know I am always looking out for places we can all go and find great products or fashion to keep ourselves beautiful! Well you are going to be as thrilled as I am over this one I am sure. The latest news is about Beauticontrol products. They are new to me but I am sure some of you might have beat me to this excellent line of cosmetic and skin care products. I got tipped off by a friend who is using their Regeneration line.

beauti control products

I saw her last Thursday for lunch and I could not believe how great she looked. I had to wait for her to come to the table before I was sure it was her. Serious! She looked great and when I found out her secret was the Regeneration Tight, Firm & Fill Face Crème I knew I had to check them out and blog about their line. I like the idea of beauty control in the life of a woman we always need to practice beauty control to look our absolute best.

My friend who was using it said she had attended a beauty control Beach Party. They have a get together and try the BC products to see what works for them and then they can place an order while they are there. Cool thing is that the hostess gets presents and credit with BC to use as she wants too! I have only scratched the surface of what they have in their store so be sure to check them out! Don’t forget I told you first!

Tory Burch Boutique Opening at SouthPark Mall

While shopping at SouthPark Mall in Charlotte over the weekend, I made an exciting discovery…a Tory Burch boutique is scheduled to open next month!  This is exciting news for fashionistas in The Carolinas because we finally have access to a full range of Tory Burch clothing and accessories without having to shop online!  I live in Columbia, SC which has very few retailers that carry Tory Burch.  Until now, the closest Tory Burch boutique was in Atlanta – a three hour drive from Columbia.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s totally worth the trip, however, it’s nice to finally have a Tory Burch boutique closer to home.  The new boutique will be located inside SouthPark near Neiman Marcus.  I’m planning a visit as soon as the store opens, and will let you know just how fabulous it is!

THIS IS NOT THE REHEARSAL

Last Thursday the lovely Yolande Letshou invited me to a fashion event organised by La Geneve North. It was a showcase of four up-and-coming fashion designers: Kerry Knowles, Chantal Gibbs-Jones, Leeanne-Ripley Garret, and Rae-Emily Smith. I’ve included short descriptions of what I saw, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Chantal Jones collection ‘All About the Cupcake’ Was full of flirty pieces with unexpected Elizabethan flourishes like a ruff necks and solid pleating peeking out from 50s hemlines.

Leeanne-Ripley Garret had a fantastic collection of structural pieces inspired by the contrast of deep symbolic meaning and Disney-like fantasy (you should have heard the music!). It was outrageous and very striking.

I didn’t know what to expect, when I heard that the next designer’s collection was all lingerie, but these pieces by Rae-Emily Smith were divine. I loved the colours and I’d wear any of these.

Kerry Knowles’ ‘Permutation’ showcased androgynous pieces that could be worn by men or women.

Then, my good friend Maria (pictured in the 1st photo) and I went backstage to speak with the creative forces behind the event, including makeup artist Anna Orkiszewska.

MANY thanks to Yolande Letshou for the invitation, and also to Maria Ling for the stunning photographs she took for the blog. Keep a look out for these four designers — you never know where you’ll see them next.

Are the Pics Better Than Reality?

Twilight stars are hot in the fashion world in the recent news as they are everywhere talking on talk shows and making appearances. Most recently Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner showed off their beautiful selves for the release of Eclipse. Kristen showed up in an amazing J Mendel number that she wore to its utmost. They were in Rome and you know what they say about “when in Rome” but Kristen has a beau so that angle is out.

But you know girls Taylor is still available!
