8 Handbags to Spice Up Your Look for New Year’s Eve

Whether you will be attending a formal New Year’s Eve cocktail soiree, or a raging, booty-shaking extravaganza, the right purse will make or break your glamorous outfit for the evening.  Make sure you look “ab fab” (absolutely fabulous) from head to toe this New Year’s Eve.  I have chosen 8 handbags that will spice up your look for NYE.

Pop of color – If you are wearing a simple or solid color dress, give your outfit a burst of color by accessorizing with a brightly colored handbag.  Nothing is too bright or too bold and no color is off-limits with this trend.  The brighter, the better! (Especially when you are wearing a neutral-colored dress!)

Metallic – Shimmer is always in style for NYE – look for gold, silvers, and bronzes to be especially on-point with the metallic theme, though you can find metallics in other tones too.

Beaded – Beads may make you think old-fashioned, or like something your grandmother would wear, but they are the classiest way to pull off an “old Hollywood”, glam outfit.  If you choose a bag with colorful beads, it will add more visual interest to your party outfit.

Sequins – Another way to show some shimmer, and the newer version of the beaded bag. Yes, your mom probably wore a ton of sequins in the eighties, but when done right, they are extremely fashionable.  There are ways to wear sequins without looking like you’re ready for a dance recital!

Two-Toned – Remember earlier this summer when color-blocking was all the rage?  Well, this trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Look for bags that combine two or more blocks of color in angular shapes.  The bag pictured above combines the metallic trend with color blocking.

Chain strap bags – If you are going to be dancing the night away, you are going to want to be doing it hands-free and this style will allow for that! Chains on bags are both stylish and functional for your New Year’s Eve partying!

Glitter handbags – There is no such thing as “too much glitter” on NYE, and you can prove that with a fashionable glitter handbag. You didn’t do NYE right unless you wake up the next morning covered in glitter!

Salvatore Ferragamo Feather Clutch

Feathery handbags – Feathers are another trend left-over from summer that is still on point for winter. Choose bags with any color of feathers that match your ensemble for the evening.

Have a safe and fabulous New Year’s Eve with these handbag style tips!

Famously Hot New Year’s Eve on Main Street

If you’re looking for something fun to do on New Year’s Eve, join the festivities of Famously Hot New Year on Main Street in the heart of downtown (Main Street between Hampton and Taylor Streets).  George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic will be headlining and there will be beer, wine, and champagne vendors, an ESPN Zone playing the college bowl games.  Best of all, general admission is free!  I haven’t attended an event quite like this, but it sounds like a lot of fun!

If you prefer VIP treament (I know I do!), purchase tickets for the Grey Goose Crescent Lounge.  The Grey Goose Crescent Lounge is an exclusive area located right next to the stage.  Enjoy a clear, heated, tent with a skyline view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks show and other amenities including an open liquor and wine bar, hors d’oeuvres by Southern Way Catering, and private restrooms.

Gates open at 7:00 pm on December 31 st.  There will be live music starting at 7:30pm by Terence Young and The Finesse Band (I’m a huge fan!), followed by Pinna at 8:20 pm and Josh Roberts and The Hinges at 9:30 pm.  George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will play two sets, one from 11:00 p.m. to 11:50 p.m. and a second set from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Kick Off 2012 with Project 365

If you were going to blog about one thing for an entire year, what would you choose?

Would you post photographs of your favorite place? Interview different people from your hometown? Create a new piece of art each day?

Here are eight unique blog projects (some are updated every single day) to inspire you to kick off 2012 with your own Project 365:

Blog Radstone

The goal, every day for the next year, approach one stranger, photograph them and promptly blog the experience. Rain or shine, hot or cold, healthy or ill, no days missed. I’ll do my best to create interesting photos, and for the sake of entertainment, work to get myself into a sticky situation from time to time. It’s a huge commitment. I’m sure there will be some hero photographs and some not so magnificent ones. Let’s see what happens!

The Creative Panic

The project right at this moment is to illustrate something (anything!) as quickly as possible every day.

Each day a new image will be uploaded with a small caption, phrase, quote, poem or whatever.

Everything Burger

I created 365 pieces of burger artwork for a year from May 17, 2010 until May 16, 2011.

An Afternoon With

This is a project about people. It is a project about our space and the things we keep and the things we don’t throw away. It is a project about looking for and finding connections we all have. It is about seeing yourself in these spaces. Every picture is a portrait of the owner – be it a room, an object or a view. Every portrait in the end becomes a self-portrait. So in the end this is a project about me.

I often walk around the city in my beloved Liverpool FC jersey. I never miss to notice every other person wearing a soccer shirt, no matter how big the crowd. I’ve decided to approach and meet them, and photograph. Here are my brief encounters, far away from the pitch.

A Drink with Chicago

Since making Chicago our home, we have found that all it takes is one great conversation over one drink to create a long lasting friendship, change your outlook or learn something new. We have had so many of these experiences that we thought we’d start to share them as we continue getting to know the many fascinating people around our city. Join us as we sit down and have a drink with local entrepreneurs, chefs, celebrities, socialites, artists and athletes who all love Chicago as much as we do.

{365} Breakfasts

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A blog to celebrate this is worth it.

So, do you have any ideas for your own Project 365?

Happy New Year from all of us at Automattic!

Of nomadic heart at home or abroad, the Louis Vuitton man cultivates his traveller’s spirit. On the move or dining out in style, casual or to-the-nines, he is ever refined and dares to set off his look with innovative, classic or unexpected accessories. Essentials that he picks from Louis Vuitton collection of timeless objects or House classics expressed with masculine air in iconic fabrics (Monogram, Damier) or precious leathers (Nomade, Taiga, Utah), branded with the LV initials.

Billfolds, agendas, key chains or high-tech protective covers are indispensable for the man who cares about the quality of his discreet companions. Louis Vuitton small leather goods reveal the excellence of their make with each handling: the selection of the finest materials, small folds in the corner, the tinted edges, a variety of finishes creating a line of sturdy, long-lasting objects meant to keep. Hot-stamping on smaller accessories, addresstags, personalise these items with the owner’s initials for a potent feeling of exclusivity.

The Louis Vuitton man is an elegant enthusiast, well-groomed down to the last detail, relishing the rich, brushed gleam of USB keys, bill clips, and cufflinks, or the sophisticated pop aura of jewellery with stylised emblems. He amps up his look with stoles and shawls in precious blends of silk, linen or cashmere and seasonal variations on iconic prints (blue Damier and khaki Leopard).

The finishing touch for a stylish man? A pair of sunglasses, created in the quest for excellence and made from materials and treatments all springing from the latest technological advances.

The travels of Louis Vuitton are invitations to dream of faraway places… yet, at times, our roots are our greatest inspiration. Ah, Paris! This Spring-Summer 2012 is when Louis Vuitton gazes upon the timeless French capital, land of languid gardens and lively terraces. The shoe collection has all the discreet chic and sparkling femininity of those lithesome Parisian dames and demoiselles.

Designed for a walk along the sweet sophistication of city streets, our shoe collection is a complete summer wardrobe in itself. From extra-low to ultra-high, it contains every look for a sophisticated woman, each created with the House’s savoir-faire in excellence. Every model is made in the shoe workshops of Fiesso d’Artico, Italy, and designed as part of a never-ending quest for technical innovation. “Here, tradition is revealed through modernity; this commitment to excellence that is expressed through an absolute unders- tanding of leather, the full spectrum of techniques applied to the act of creation, from automated cutting to hand-finishing.” says Yves Carcelle, CEO, Louis Vuitton.

The collection is fresh, ripe, and cool, bringing together all the iconic signs of the House in sunny splendour. Heart print is on summery flats, flip-flops find themselves in acid-toned leather with rope platform soles and a golden buckle. Wedge sneakers and riding boots embossed calfskin suede in sandy shades, exuding easy chic. Platform pumps are topped with a bow and take on summer’s textures of brightly coloured satin and rope. Derby shoes and loafers opt for sober tones, while patent leather pumps unabashedly dazzle in brilliant lemon and purple.

As the evening wanes to the wee hours, the Parisian chooses the glamour of black and blue sequins or dizzying, gold-trimmed pumps, her favourite footwear of her nocturnal flights of fancy.
